The new Pioneer PD-50AE player is based on the company's many years of experience in the field of digital audio, especially when it comes to the manufacture of ultra-quiet disc drives, clock precision and digital-to-analog signal conversion.
The new player is equipped with a DAC chip from ESS (the Saber ES9026PRO), which is compatible with CD, SACD and MQA encoded discs. In addition the PD-50AE's DAC also has the ability to play MQA files via USB, so discerning listeners can not only enjoy their record collection, but also MQA streams such as from Tidal.
The disc mechanism of the device is housed in a metal housing with a cellular structure, having a special varnish to absorb shocks. The base is securely fixed to an aluminum frame and mounted on a "floating" structure with damping material. This minimizes vibrations.
Digital and analog circuits are powered separately. There are special quality electrolytic capacitors selected by the company after extensive hearings. Indeed there is an Elko capacitor specially chosen for the sound of records.
Otherwise we have a resolution of 384KHz, reduced jitter with adjustment in six steps and a choice of three digital filters. The price of the player is close to 2,000 euros.
